A Journey to Better Health with Personify (formerly Virgin Pulse)
By Kay Dubuisson

As pastors, many of us dedicate long hours to serving our congregations, often putting our own
health and well-being on the back burner. It’s a calling we cherish but can be physically and
mentally demanding. I wanted to take a moment to share my experience with Personify (formerly
Virgin Pulse) and how it has been a game-changer in helping me prioritize my health while
balancing the demands of ministry.
Like many of you, I spend long days sitting — writing sermons, meeting with congregants, and
planning programs. Sometimes, I don’t even realize I’ve been sitting for six or eight hours without
moving. One of the features I love about Personify is the gentle reminders I receive from my watch
or the app, encouraging me to get up and move every hour. That nudge to take a stroll or step away
from the laptop has made a big difference, helping me reset and recharge.
As a stroke survivor, staying on top of my health is incredibly important. Personify’s yearly health
check has been invaluable in this journey. The results give my doctor and me a clear picture of
where I’m doing well and where to improve. Whether adjusting my cholesterol levels or focusing
on hydration and physical activity, these insights have kept me on track and improved my overall
health.
Beyond that, the program offers amazing incentives that have become a meaningful part of my
life. The wellness credits and reward cash my husband and I earn yearly can total up to $1,000.
We use this as part of the payment for our annual vacation. It’s a joyful way to celebrate our health
journey and explore new destinations together. For us, it’s not just about earning rewards — it’s
about creating moments and memories that remind us why prioritizing health is so important.
Personify also makes improving health fun through its challenges. From tracking water intake to
weekend step goals, these activities keep me motivated and engaged. It’s easy to lose sight of your
needs while serving others, but Personify creates simple ways to stay on track and connect with
others who share similar goals. I would love to challenge you this year and keep each other
accountable.
If you’re looking for a way to invest in yourself while maintaining your busy schedule, I encourage
you to try Personify. It has helped me balance the demands of ministry with the need to care for
my own health. I’m grateful for how it has supported my well-being, and I truly believe it can do
the same for you.
If you haven’t done so, I pray you will make this tool your best friend this year.
